Before you install

AutoName Terms

Please read this carefully before continuing to install.

7-day free trial · $5.99 AUD/month after

AutoName starts with a 7-day free trial — no card required up front. After the trial, the subscription is $5.99 AUD/month, billed externally from ServiceM8 via Over Geek. A Manage billing link inside the AutoName settings page takes you to your billing portal.

Heads up: ServiceM8 may show an "unverified" warning

When you click install, ServiceM8 may display a warning that the add-on hasn’t been verified by them yet. That’s normal for add-ons installed directly via the developer rather than from the official ServiceM8 Add-on Store.

Always be cautious about these warnings and only accept and enable trusted add-ons. Please review our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions, and if you have any questions please reach out.

Important: not everything can be renamed

AutoName cannot rename the following ServiceM8 documents:

  • Invoices
  • Quotes
  • Work Orders

This is a current limitation of the ServiceM8 webhook system — those documents are generated and managed by ServiceM8 itself and don’t fire an attachment webhook that AutoName can act on. If ServiceM8 changes how these are exposed to add-ons in the future, we’ll revisit and update AutoName accordingly.

How billing works

  • Every new install gets a 7-day free trial automatically — no payment required to start.
  • Inside the AutoName settings page in ServiceM8 you’ll see a countdown of the days remaining and an Add billing / Manage billing link.
  • After the trial ends, the subscription is $5.99 AUD/month, billed through Over Geek’s billing portal — not through your ServiceM8 invoice.
  • If you don’t add billing details before the trial ends, AutoName simply stops renaming attachments. Your rules stay saved, ready for when you re-subscribe.
  • Cancel anytime from the Manage billing page — your ServiceM8 data is never affected.

What AutoName does — and doesn’t

  • Watches photos and files added to ServiceM8 jobs and renames them when they match one of your rules.
  • Never modifies ServiceM8 Invoice, Quote or Work Order documents — those are generated and owned by ServiceM8.
  • Renamed form-response PDFs still appear as “Form Response” in the job diary; the renamed filename is what shows up when the file is emailed or downloaded.
  • Doesn’t store your attachments — only the rules you write live on Over Geek’s server.

Permissions

AutoName requests the ServiceM8 OAuth scopes it needs to read job, customer and attachment data and to write the new attachment name. We never share your data with anyone outside Over Geek. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

  • AutoName starts with a 7-day free trial and then becomes a $5.99 AUD/month subscription.
  • Billing is handled externally from ServiceM8 via Over Geek — it does not affect your ServiceM8 subscription.
  • You can cancel and uninstall at any time without losing your ServiceM8 data.
